Our Chanukah Appeal

On behalf of the whole museum team, we’d like to wish you a peaceful holiday season and a happy Chanukah. Your support in these difficult times has been more important than ever and in this article we’re sharing details of how you can help us continue our important work. Also, be sure to read to the end for a sneak peak of our exciting plans for our 150th anniversary in 2024!

Help us continue bringing people together

The recent tragic events in Israel and Gaza have shocked and impacted everyone in our communities, including ourselves here at the museum. Recent weeks have seen fewer people coming through our doors, with November being our quietest month this year. Concern from parents has seen many schools cancel their planned visits, which has had a significant impact on our income. Despite these challenges, we continue to create opportunities for people to come together to explore their similarities and differences and to allow much needed dialogue.

A wonderful example of this was our Cheetham Fest Open Day in October. We opened our doors for anyone to visit the museum for free as part of Cheetham Cultural Festival. Our Synagogue Nights shows have gone ahead as planned and were described as “uplifting”, “communal” and “something positive to enjoy at a troubling time for many”.

We believe that our work is needed now more than ever, but we need your help. Together we can make a change.

We would like to thank you for your continued support, whether it’s through visiting us, attending our events, using our cafe or being an MJM member. As a registered charity, we rely on the generosity of our members, supporters and partners to be able to bring our work to life. Your support means we can share the stories of Jewish Manchester with the world and bring communities together, spreading the message of peace and unity in diversity.
