Would you like to become a Museum Foodie?

Our Foodie Group meet monthly to discuss, cook and eat food inspired by stories from our collection, artists and events we programme, as well as our own members’ heritage and backgrounds.

Our workshops are informal, chatty and a chance to meet new people as well as learn about new recipes and cooking traditions.

This month’s Foodie Group will be co-hosted by a local Cheetham resident, Kryshana, who will bring a couple of her (much adored!) family recipes to our kitchen.

Join us as we look at some of the beloved Asian street food dishes, including an easy to make snack made with Bombay Mix. Learn how to make a delicious mushroom dish that is a staple at Kryshana’s home and try it with a side of freshly made chapati bread.

No cooking experience necessary. Plus you get to try and take home what you make!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
This activity is designed for adults of all ages.

We are always looking for our members to get involved or co-host our monthly sessions. If you’d be interested in sharing a family recipe, something you’ve grown up eating or cooking, or a dish/recipe that is close to your heart, that would be suitable to explore in this type of group setting, please email Demi at demi@manchesterjewishmuseum.com

Please note we use all vegetarian approved ingredients but the food is not ‘Beth Din’ supervised.

If you have any allergies, or would like more information on our Foodie Group please email demi@manchesterjewishmuseum.com in advance.

The Crafty Corner: Shoemaking

This newly launched group is a friendly space where you will get to explore, experiment, and express your creative side. In every workshop we will explore a story from the museum’s collection about a trade or craft and create an artistic response to its themes, craft process or medium.

Make it! Stamps & Symbols

Join us to discover the incredible book of blue-inked stamps in our collection that belonged to the Btesh family, one of the earliest Syrian traders to arrive in Manchester. Inspired by the stamps in the Btesh book, you’ll get to design your very own stamp that reflects your interests – whether that’s football, food or animals!
