Do you love to write? Or have an interest in exploring music? It doesn’t matter if you’ve never written songs before, we are an open group for anyone of any ability!
Our Song-writing Group meet monthly to work with amazing composers, singers, writers and musicians to create new music and poems inspired by the stories in our collection and your own experiences.
In this session we will be joined by artist Maud Haya-Baviera, a visual artist currently in residence at Holocaust Centre North. Maud will be joining the group over two sessions, inspiring us to develop new ideas about using voice and words to create sound compositions.
The workshops will explore creative techniques to elaborate meaningful responses to survivors’ letters found at the Holocaust Centre North Archives and MJM Collection. The sounds and words we create will be used to develop a new song/piece.
Don’t worry if your new to the group, our doors are always open for new members – it’s a supportive space to try something new!
About the Artist
Maud Haya-Baviera works with a variety of media including video, sound, photography, sculpture and installation. She uses material able to convey narratives, such as archival material, which she then translates to address contemporary realities. She has exhibited her work in a solo capacity and in group shows nationally and internationally and has received a number of awards in relation to international projects and towards the production of new works.
