Our Chanukah Appeal: Help Us Make A Difference!

The entire museum team wishes you and your families a peaceful holiday season and a joyous Chanukah, filled with light and love. Your support over the past year has been more important than ever.

2024 has been a very special year for all of us at the museum. We connected with nearly 12 thousand people from Manchester and beyond. Visitors, school children, artists, and community members have shared in unforgettable experiences at the museum.

Visitors shared that their time at the museum left them feeling connected to their own or other communities, more optimistic, and energised to make a positive difference in the world.

Our staff delivered over 300 hours of teaching to 4876 pupils from over a hundred schools in Greater Manchester and beyond, giving them a chance to bake, make, explore and learn more about a synagogue, Jewish festivals and diverse Jewish communities in Manchester.
In May We celebrated the milestone 150th anniversary of our Spanish and Portuguese synagogue with new exhibitions, beautiful performances and our very own time capsule! This momentous event allowed us to honour the legacy of our historic building while celebrating all of our communities in a meaningful way.
In October we participated in Cheetham Cultural Festival, an annual celebration of the rich cultural diversity of our local area, Cheetham Hill and Crumpsall. We welcomed over 220 visitors for a family-friendly programme, with creative activities aimed at fostering interfaith connections.
This of course wouldn’t be possible without your support. As a registered charity, we rely on the generosity of our members, supporters and partners to be able to bring our work to life. Every visit, membership, and donation allows us to share the rich stories of Jewish Manchester, foster unity, and promote peace through diversity. Join us in this vital mission by supporting us in one of the following ways:

Gifts in Wills

Remembering Manchester Jewish Museum by leaving a gift in your will can help us continue sharing Jewish stories with the world and our society, and celebrate that which makes us unique and that which connects us all.
Your support ensures that we can take great care of our breathtaking 1874 Spanish, and Portuguese synagogue building and our vast collection of artefacts, to allow future generations to enjoy and learn from it for years to come. It also means we can deliver a range of exciting events and activities that tackle antisemitism and other forms of racism and discrimination by bringing people together, sparking conversations and connections. In today’s world, we believe this is more important than ever.
Watch the video below where Filis explains what inspired her to include the museum in her will:

We are deeply grateful to HLF Berry for offering a free will service as part of our Gifts in Wills scheme.

COMING UP IN 2025

We have already rolled up our sleeves and started planning exciting projects for 2025, including a new programme of talks and tours and creative Early Year sessions for the youngest of our museum visitors. Support our Chanukah fundraiser and be part of another amazing year at Manchester Jewish Museum.
